Elon Musk, the proprietor of the "X platform," has hinted that the previously free-to-use social network formerly known as "Twitter" is poised for changes.
During a live broadcast on the "X platform," Musk elaborated on the rationale behind this shift, stating, "The primary motivation behind transitioning to a modest monthly subscription fee for 'X' is because it represents the most effective strategy I can envision to combat extensive armies of automated bots."
Musk further emphasized that implementing a payment system and affording priority to premium users' content would serve as a deterrent against the influence of these bots.
Elon also emphasized that the subscription fee would be set at a relatively affordable level, noting, "Given that each robot costs a fraction of a cent, let's assume it's a mere tenth of a cent. Even if users were required to pay a nominal sum, possibly a few dollars, it would still be significantly less than the actual high costs associated with these automated bots."
He went on to explain, "We are actively exploring options for a more accessible pricing structure, aiming for a minimal financial commitment. It's a more extensive conversation, but it remains the primary defense mechanism against the proliferation of robot armies."
